About the training
Who is the training for?
UK charities, non-profits, schools, academies and faith organisations. That includes trustees, CEOs, school business managers, bursars, volunteers and anyone taking their first steps in fundraising, as well as experienced fundraisers keeping up with current law and best practice.
How many courses are there?
17 currently. One of them, Introduction to Fundraising, is completely free. All 17 are accredited by The CPD Group and grounded in current UK law and best practice. Our Courses.
Is the training online or in person?
All of the training is online and on demand. There are no live sessions, webinars, group courses or in-house training days. You work through each course at your own pace, whenever suits you.
Are the courses relevant if we are in Scotland or Northern Ireland?
Much of the content applies across the UK: the research tools, application techniques, budgeting and funder relationship practice are the same everywhere. The legal framework covered is that for charities registered in England and Wales, so organisations in Scotland should also refer to OSCR, and those in Northern Ireland to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
Are the courses professional advice?
No. They are educational resources. Nothing in a course is legal, financial, tax, regulatory or governance advice, and you should always check the current position with the Charity Commission, the Fundraising Regulator, gov.uk or a professional adviser before acting. The courses teach skills and approaches; they cannot guarantee any grant, donation or fundraising outcome.

The free course and free resources
Is Introduction to Fundraising really free?
Yes, completely. No card details, no subscription, no catch. It is six modules, takes around two to three hours, includes knowledge checks, and gives you a personalised CPD-accredited certificate on completion. It is the same quality as the paid courses. Get Introduction to Fundraising here.
What are the free resources?
When you register for the free course you also receive the free resource library: eight practical tools and guides, delivered to your inbox straight away and yours to keep.
State of UK Funding 2026, the annual landscape guide; the Funding Readiness Quiz; the Funding Application Toolkit (templates and checklists); and five Top Tips guides on Writing Winning Applications, Finding the Right Funders, Managing Funder Relationships, Prospect Research for Trusts and Foundations, and Monitoring and Evaluation.
How do I get them?
Fill in the short form on the Our Courses page. You will need to give a name and email address so the resources and your course link can be sent to you.
Do I have to join your newsletter to get the free resources?
No. All eight resources and the free course are yours whether or not you tick either email option. The two options on the form (occasional training updates and the GeckoFundraising Weekly newsletter) are entirely optional and you can unsubscribe at any time.
What is GeckoFundraising Weekly?
My free weekly newsletter with new UK grant opportunities, tips and sector guidance. You can opt in on the free resources form or on the Newsletter page, and unsubscribe whenever you like.

Choosing a course
Which course should I start with?
If you are new to fundraising, start with the free Introduction to Fundraising. If you already know the basics and want to focus on grant applications, Writing Winning Funding Applications is the natural next step. Every course is self-contained, so you can take them in any order.
Do I need to take the courses in a particular order?
No. Each course stands alone. Introduction to Fundraising first is sensible if you are a beginner, because it gives you the grounding the others build on, but nothing is a prerequisite.
What is the difference between Writing Winning Funding Applications and Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations?
They overlap, and either is a good starting point. Writing Winning Funding Applications follows the application itself from research to submission, including budget and evaluation, across all funder types. Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations focuses on that one funder type and spends more time on shaping fundable projects and project plans before you write. If trusts and foundations are your main income source, choose that one; if you apply to a mix of funders, choose Writing Winning Funding Applications.
What is the difference between Monitoring and Evaluation and Impact Reporting?
Monitoring and Evaluation is about building the system: Theory of Change, objectives and indicators, data collection and analysis. Impact Reporting is about what you do with the evidence: the legal reporting framework, measuring impact, and communicating it to funders, commissioners and the public. Many organisations take both, starting with Monitoring and Evaluation.
Is there a course for schools, or for churches?
Yes. Fundraising for Schools and Academies is written for headteachers, business managers, bursars, academy trustees, PTAs and teachers, and starts with eligibility and the principle of additionality. Fundraising for Christian Faith Organisations is written for churches, Christian charities and faith-based organisations, including how to navigate the faith question for different funder types.
How long does each course take?
Most courses are six modules and take around three to four hours. Introduction to Fundraising is six modules over two to three hours. Statutory Sector Fundraising is the longest at nine modules and four to five hours. Corporate Fundraising and Philanthropy and Major Donor Fundraising have seven modules, Fundraising for Christian Faith Organisations has eight and Legacy Fundraising has five. Each course page gives the exact figures.

Prices, bundles and discount codes
How much do the courses cost?
Each paid course is £99 including VAT at 20% (£82.50 before VAT), as a one-off payment with no subscription. Introduction to Fundraising is free.
What bundles are available?
Any 3 courses: £249 including VAT, saving £48. Enter code MIX3 at checkout with three courses in your basket.
Any 5 courses: £379 including VAT, saving £116. Enter code MIX5 at checkout with five courses in your basket.
Full Catalogue, all 17 courses: £649 including VAT, saving £935 on the individual prices of the 16 paid courses, with the free Introduction to Fundraising included.
How do the discount codes work?
Add your three (or five) chosen courses to the basket, then enter MIX3 (or MIX5) in the discount code box at checkout before you pay. You can mix courses from any category. The bundle price only applies if the code is entered before payment; it cannot be applied afterwards, combined with other offers, or applied to courses added later.
Is there a charity or small-organisation discount?
The bundle prices are the discounts available. There is no separate charity or small-organisation rate, and the free Introduction to Fundraising course is open to everyone.
Can I add more courses to a bundle later at the bundle price?
No. Bundle pricing applies only to the courses selected at the time of purchase. Courses cannot be swapped or added afterwards at the bundle rate, and courses added to the catalogue later are not included in a bundle bought earlier.
5
Buying and paying
How do I buy a course?
Go to Our Courses, click Add to Cart on the course you want, then go to the basket and check out. Access to the course, including the downloadable copy, is released as soon as your payment goes through.
What payment methods do you accept?
Debit and credit cards, processed securely by Stripe. GeckoFundraising never sees or stores your card details.
Can you send an invoice or accept a purchase order?
No. All purchases are made by card at checkout. A VAT invoice is issued automatically after payment, which you can pass to your finance team.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Each course is linked to one named learner's account on the training platform. You create your account when you register for the free course or check out for the first time. Please keep your login details private; accounts cannot be shared.
Can several people in our organisation use one purchase?
No. Each purchase gives access to one named learner through their own account, and the licence does not allow the course content, downloadable copy or login to be shared. If several members of your team want to complete a course, each needs their own purchase. To discuss a multi-learner arrangement, email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk.
Can I buy a course for someone else?
The learner needs their own account, so the simplest route is for them to register and purchase themselves. If you are buying on behalf of a colleague or your organisation and that is not practical, email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk before you buy.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes. A VAT invoice is issued on every purchase and you will receive an Order Confirmation email with your access details. If it has not arrived, check your junk or spam folder first, then email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the name and email you used at checkout.
6
Cancellation and refunds
What is the box I have to tick at checkout?
Because paid course content, including the downloadable copy, is released to you immediately on payment, the checkout asks you to confirm that you want immediate access and that you understand you will lose your 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once the content is made available. This is a legal requirement for digital content supplied straight away. If you would rather keep your cancellation right, do not complete the purchase online.
Can I cancel and get a refund?
If you are buying as an individual consumer, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from your Order Confirmation, but by ticking the immediate-access box at checkout you waive that right once the content is made available to you. Opening a lesson, downloading the copy or attempting a knowledge check all count as accessing the content. Outside your statutory rights, refunds are not offered as standard. Full details are in the Terms and Conditions.
We are a charity or school. Does the 14-day cancellation right apply to us?
The 14-day cooling-off right applies to consumers, meaning individuals buying for purposes outside their trade or profession. Purchases made on behalf of a charity, school or other organisation are business purchases, and there is no automatic right to cancel once the Order Confirmation has been sent. Any cancellation request is considered at GeckoFundraising's discretion.
I bought the wrong course by mistake.
Email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk straight away, before you open or download anything, and explain what happened. Courses cannot be swapped after the Order Confirmation has been issued except at GeckoFundraising's discretion, but I will always look at a genuine mistake personally.
What if the course content is faulty?
If you are a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and those rights are not affected by anything at checkout. If something is genuinely broken, email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the details and it will be repaired or replaced. A course is not faulty because the law has changed since its edition date or because a particular fundraising result has not followed.
How do I request a refund in exceptional circumstances?
Email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the subject line Refund Request, giving your name, order details and a clear explanation of the circumstances. I aim to respond within 10 working days. Where a bundle has been partly accessed, any discretionary refund is calculated on the courses not yet accessed at the standard single-course price.
7
Access, editions and downloads
How long do I have access?
Two things happen when you buy. First, you can download a copy of the course (as a PDF) that is yours to keep permanently, like a book. Second, you get access through your online account, with the knowledge checks and certificate, for as long as the training platform is provided. There is no time limit and no renewal fee.
Can I download the course?
Yes. Once payment is processed you can download a copy of each purchased course in PDF format and keep it for your own use. Knowledge checks and certificates are completed inside the online course rather than in the download.
Which edition are the courses?
All 17 courses are currently the July 2026 Edition. The content reflects UK law, regulator guidance and sector best practice as at July 2026.
What does buying an edition mean?
Each course is sold as a dated edition. The content is correct as at the date shown on the course page and is not changed after that, in the same way as a printed book. I expect to release updated editions roughly annually. A new edition is a separate product, so buying one edition does not automatically include later ones, although existing learners may be offered a discount on a new edition at the time.
Will the course be updated when the law changes?
The edition you buy is fixed at its stated date. I review course content periodically and may publish notes flagging significant changes, but I do not promise to update an edition after purchase. Always check the current position with the Charity Commission, the Fundraising Regulator or gov.uk before acting.
Can I share the course with colleagues?
No. Your purchase is a personal, non-transferable licence for one named learner. The content, including the downloadable copy, may not be shared, copied, distributed or uploaded to AI tools, and login details may not be shared. Templates and checklists can be adapted for your own organisation's use, but the templates themselves remain GeckoFundraising's property.
What happens if the training platform closes?
You keep every downloadable copy you have paid for, so you do not lose the course. GeckoFundraising would give at least 30 days' notice by email. If the platform closed within twelve months of your purchase and you had not yet earned your certificate, a partial refund of the platform element (valued at no more than 20% of the course price) would apply, as set out in the Terms and Conditions.
8
Progress, knowledge checks and certificates
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your module completions, checklist ticks and reflection notes save automatically in the browser you are using, so you can close the course and come back later. Because the saving happens in your browser, please use the same device and browser each time and avoid clearing your browser data mid-course. Your training account records which courses you have completed, but the detailed progress inside a course stays on the device you used.
I switched to a different computer and my progress has gone.
In-course progress is saved in the browser on the device you were using, so it will not follow you to a new device or a different browser. Your original device should still have it. If you have lost progress and need help, email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk.
How do the knowledge checks work?
Every module ends with a short knowledge check. You need to answer at least 80% of the questions correctly to mark the module complete, and you can retry as many times as you like. They are there to help the learning stick, not to catch you out.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. Once every module is marked complete, your personalised, printable CPD-accredited certificate of completion unlocks inside the course at no extra cost. You enter your own name on it, then download, save or print it.
Do this straight away: why it matters
The certificate can only be obtained from within the course, on the device where you completed it. Your training account does not hold a copy of it. Please download, save or print your certificate as soon as it unlocks, check the spelling of your name before you do, and keep it somewhere safe.
Is the certificate a qualification?
No. It is evidence that you completed a particular edition of a course, with CPD credits attached. It is not a professional qualification, licence or endorsement.
9
Accreditation and CPD
Are the courses accredited?
Yes. All 17 courses, including the free Introduction to Fundraising, are CPD accredited by The CPD Group. Accreditation confirms that the structure and learning materials have been assessed against The CPD Group's framework. Each course displays its accreditation number and a verification link inside the course.
How many CPD credits does each course carry?
Most courses carry 4 CPD credits. Introduction to Fundraising, Building a Sustainable Fundraising Strategy and Corporate Fundraising carry 3, and Statutory Sector Fundraising carries 5. The Full Catalogue adds up to 66 credits.
In full: Introduction to Fundraising 3; Writing Winning Funding Applications 4; Finding the Right Funders 4; Storytelling at the Heart of Fundraising 4; Budget Brilliance for Fundraisers 4; Building a Sustainable Fundraising Strategy 3; Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations 4; Corporate Fundraising 3; Capital Campaigns 4; Philanthropy and Major Donor Fundraising 4; Legacy Fundraising 4; Statutory Sector Fundraising 5; Monitoring and Evaluation 4; Impact Reporting 4; Building Funder Relationships That Last 4; Fundraising for Schools and Academies 4; Fundraising for Christian Faith Organisations 4.
Is the certificate recognised by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising or other professional bodies?
No. The courses are accredited by The CPD Group, not by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, and the certificate is not formally recognised by the CIoF or by any other professional body. It is a certificate of completion carrying CPD credits from The CPD Group, which many people record in their own professional CPD log. If you need a certificate to count towards a specific membership, qualification or employer requirement, please check with that organisation before you buy.
Could the accreditation change?
Accreditation is granted to GeckoFundraising Ltd by The CPD Group for a fixed term and may be renewed, varied or withdrawn by them. A change in accreditation status after your purchase does not entitle you to a refund, and CPD credits apply to completions recorded while the course is accredited. Certificates already earned remain valid as evidence of completion.

Accounts, technical help and adjustments
I cannot log in.
Use the Forgot Password link on the login page first. If that does not solve it, email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the email address on your account. Login here.
Where do I go to start my course?
What do I need to take a course?
An internet connection, a device and an up-to-date web browser for the online course, and something that can open a PDF for the downloadable copy. The courses work on any device.
A video or page in my course is not working.
Try refreshing the page or opening the course in a different browser on the same device first. If it still is not working, email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the course name, the module, your device and browser, and what you are seeing.
I need an adjustment because of a disability or health condition.
Reasonable adjustments and special considerations are available so that no learner is disadvantaged, for example around how knowledge checks are taken. It is best to ask before you start a course. Email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk to tell me what would help; each request is considered individually and anything you share is handled confidentially.
11
Complaints and appeals
How do I make a complaint?
Email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the subject line Complaint and describe what has happened. Complaints are handled under the GeckoFundraising Complaints Policy. GeckoFundraising is run by one person, so the timescales in the policy are targets that may occasionally be extended, but I will always respond as soon as I reasonably can. Complaints Policy.
I disagree with a knowledge check result or certificate decision.
You can appeal. Concerns about a knowledge check outcome, course completion or certification are handled under the Appeals Policy. Email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk with the subject line Appeal in the first instance and I will explain the next steps.
12
Consultancy
Can you help with our actual funding application?
Not through the training, which is designed to give you the skills to do it yourself. Alongside the courses, GeckoFundraising offers consultancy services including trust and foundation bid writing, funding searches and fundraising strategy. See the Services page, or email amie@geckofundraising.co.uk for an exploratory conversation. See our services page here.
